On: What's the Point? Film
This was our final film from the What's the Point? project. In our group, we each wanted to contribute ideas that were individual to our own progress. There was a sense of subverted normality in the final piece, as we were reconfiguring everyday images around Archway. Colors were distorted and shapes were not as they should be, which was our intention from the start so I'm glad that this clearly came across to the viewer.
The film was actually quite well received by our peers. The start with the shattering vase and the strong text overlaid on the images came across very well when watched. The jumps between sections was jarring, but worked in being able to show the break and start between each individual.
What's the Point: Reflective Film
On: Ideas Factory Film
This splitscreen short was created as part of the first week project. We used the words polytheism, mesh, and obscure as guiding objectives for the film. The idea of creating these contrasts that we found throughout out research was where the film came about. I do think that the shots are very arresting, and when looped play out very well.
The short would be installed in a gallery, projected over layers of mesh to obscure the images.
